Ok so I have been off for a qute a while. because mostly I was sad because of Sara's absence in season 13 & so practically I have nothing to post for Calzona. Now almost from the begining of Season 13 we know that Arizona is gonna get a new love interest & that honestly it brings me to post this. I don't know if anoyone still visit this site but still I wanted to give it a try...

So in the past few months I have seen two set of Calzona fans here....

CATEGORY 1:  Who thinks from their mind/ are realistic/ logical & practical:
1) Now these are fans who's priority right now is Arizona's happiness.
2) None knows (Except Sara or may be Shoda) if Sara will be back as Calliope Torres yet...& that makes Arizona with no love life at the moment, so they want Arizona to have a new love interest.
3) In Grey's universe Callie is with Penny in NY & she is happy there, so they think Arizona deserve the same happiness in the love department, even if it isn't with Callie.
4) They mostly want Calzona to be the end game, though they don't mind a new romance for the moment which will allow Arizona to be happy, carefree & fun.
5) They believe one can fall in love more than once in their lifetime.

CATEGORY 2:  Who thinks from their heart/ are dreamer/ hopeless romantic & believes in fairytale:
1)They want Arizona with Callie and only Callie & do not want Arizona do develop a love interest with someone else
2) They believe Sara will be back & will give Calzona a happy ending.
3) They believe Arizona need not need another lovestory to find happiness, she can get many more beautiful story line to play that can make her happy (eg. she has more degree than anyone else in the hospital & an awesome career story line won't hurt). Only the priorities need to be rearranged.
4) They believe Penny was never Callie's great love story or one true love,Arizona is, hence they want Arizona not to find another love, as when/if Sara comes back Callie and Arizona can have a beautiful reconcilation without any baggage or more drama.
5)There is only one true love one can have in a lifetime.

Now I have few questions to the fans of both the categories, so I expect when you choose your category, if you can/want to answer the following questions as well (only answer the question of whichever category you are chossing):

1) Is it that easy to root for a couple for a while & then just move on with another just like that! What I mean is if you want a love interest for Arizona at the moment & really start rooting for them & supposedly Callie comes back....won't it be wrong for this new love interest who may/may not have developed/ trying to develop a chemistry with Arizona to be left off only because now Callie, Arizona's great love is back!
2) Since as the per Grey's universe Callie is in NY living a happy life with Penny....does anyone of you root for Penny & Callie in New York too!
3) If we are real Calzona fans will it be too unrealistic to actually not root for Callie and Arizona with anyone else but each other...even if it means Arizona may have to find happiness in something else other than their love life & create a great love story in itself even if she doesn't get a lifetime with Callie (given Sara is not coming back)!

1) Can we really blame Arizona to try to find someone in her life as the reality in front of her is as clear as it can be. She has witnessed Callie making a life with someone else and even Sofia is now a part of that life. So right now she doesn't have much control over Callie's life, so all she can control is her own life & in order to do that can't she atleast try!
2) When there is a still a big "IF" on Sara's return & if Sara doesn't come back at all....do we think a character like Arizona should miss the chance to have a happy love life again, given Callie is living one happy life with Penny in NY (even if we think she can be happy without a lovelife, still it is part of one's life)!
3) If we are only left with Arizona of Calzona when the show ends...do you think it's not ok to root for Callie with Penny & Arizona with someone else considering it's what they have willingly choosen for themselves  and that's what make them happy!

Now now now....as I mentioned two categories there is NO RIGHT OR WRONG here & I for one knows that both set of Calzona fans do exists, so no judgement please. I'm sure some of you may find some common attributes from both the categoris or find some of that doesn't exress your pov totally.....which is ok too & I understand that, but you just have to go for the one category which you are more inclined with!
I'm open to all kind of answers, just don't be too hateful or rude to anyone.

Poll #2057065 Calzona Fan from Mind or heart

Are you Calzona fan from mind or from heart?

From Mind...we are realistic
From Heart...we are hopeless romantic

P.S.: Can you guess which one I fall under!

All below is my own opinion, based on observation and interviews, an honest like for both actresses and a healthy dislike for the PTB and their own need to play fans like puppets

The show hasn't suddenly killed calzona, they have been working on it for at least 3 season. Was bringing them back together ever Shonda's end game, personally I think she has been playing with the emotions of the fans, stringing them along with crumbs of hope to keep on LGBT good side. I think it was a simple fact that one actress decided that she wasn't so into working so personally with the other, who was gaining a bigger level of fan support, and used her relationship with Shonda to influence the direction of the story lines. Shonda has even said before that if an actor doesn't want to kiss another that she wouldn't force them to do it. Which is totally BS, they are paid a nice chunk of change to act out a script and there are tons of actors who disliked each other but are professional and do their job with believability and conviction. But then something happened and the actresses own story lines changed the character to the extent that fans started to dislike the former golden girl. Was it because she made a personal choice and choose to step away from Grey's. I believe it was

Tbh I really never thought it was anything to do with the actors, nothing that I atleast know of. Yes Sara's decision to take a break definitely lead us to a big doubt on Calzona's future. But I certainly don't think Shonda writes her character's as per actor's wish. She has built her individuality and is capable enough not to experiment a 13 year running show as per some actors direction only because she share a good rapport with the actor & the said actor has some personal issues with another acotr...if personal issues were encouraged in Grey's SL then we could have few Grey's actors still present in the cast. So I don't think Shonda Rhimes can be controlled like that.

But yes I do agree to your point that that the SL wasn't happy, constructive or that well written for Calzona in past 3 years....I still beg to differ it was with ill intention though....I think they taken the couple & the fandom granted way too much...they experimented with them & put them with every storm a couple can go through...but as I believe it was always Shonda's plan to bring them back together in the end & as per her words it could still happen.
So let's hold on to that...hope for the best & prepare for the worse!

I agree with you, but I think they used Calzona too much for the SL of others (Merder). Sara needed her break, otherwise she wouldn't have done it. For us fans it's really sad that SR took so long to bring them back together eventually, because we don't know if or when Sara will come back.
I hope it will happen some day .....

Re: Calzona
Yeah I think they took Calzona way too much for granted & forgetting that actors can have a personal life & can need a break which may hamper the SL.

I don't know how close Sara and Jessica ever were but after the cheating storyline the actress's social media presence changed because Jessica was the victim of social media bullying that included some nut job posting her home on the Internet and we must never forget that she has young children, nobody should ever have to worry about their family because of fans angry about the storyline of a show. After this occurred there was, I feel, a definite change in how press was handled.

Highly doubtful that Shonda allows her storylines to be dictated by actresses jealous of their acting partners' "bigger level of fan support", tbh. There has never been any indication that Sara or Jessica have been anything other than consummate professionals, so theories like this are so disrespectful.

This is Shonda's show. She decides how the storylines go. Point blank, period. If someone is uncomfortable with a sex scene or a level of nudity required, that's fine - Shonda has said more than once that she will make allowances for that. But to really think that any of Shonda's employees have the ability to dictate storyline direction to the point of dismantling one of the show's biggest draws (and Calzona definitely was based on ratings and fanfare alone) is totally unbelievable.

I think I have certain traits of both. I liked Calzona as a couple. Of course they were flawed and had a lot of issues that were never explored, and that is purely the writers' fault. They were beating a dead horse towards the end and it wasn't fair to the characters or the fans.

I'm excited to see Arizona have another love interest and be a bit lighter and fun this season. She's been in Callie's shadow for so long that they need to do her justice now that she achieved redemption.

However, there is a part of me that would squeal in delight if Callie came back. Depending on where Arizona is at that point, that would determine to me whether or not I would support an eventual reunion, if that ever happened. If they build this new love interest up and gives us a couple to root for, I might just be excited to see SaRa back on the show.

You can only be a hopeless romantic for so long...and the fans have suffered for years now that I think it's time to be a bit more realistic. SaRa left the show, from the sounds of it out of nowhere, and didn't show a dedication to the couple anyway.

While I understand everything you said before...I kind of feel the need to defend Sara a little here.

As per information I have till now, I don't think it was Sara's intention to break Calzona by taking a break...I think she was in the show for continuous 10 years and needed a break & ofc now we know she had some other agenda in her mind as well (eg. production of the film, LGBT & all), so she needed some time for herself.
Let's be honest no one knows when Grey's will end & let's face it if you want a break one have to justify your absence by sending you somewhere and not killing your character off & NY was the best opportunity for Callie to give Sara a break. So she took it. While personally I believe she have all the indication of coming back, I worry when/if she comes back there still will be any Calzona or not. The fans who are rooting for the new girl with Arizona may have temporary intention for them but if it gets encouraged like that & the writers decide to change the SL in favor of the new couple, that can put Calzona on risk and it can backfire for the realistic Calzona fans (ofc if they will still be calzona fan then).

Re: SaRa left the show, from the sounds of it out of nowhere, and didn't show a dedication to the co
No doubt I believe that she needed a break to focus on other things that she was passionate about that she maybe wouldn't have had enough time for if she was still on the show. And possibly dealing with being bisexual and not wanting her identify to correlate with Callie is understandable also.

So putting her in NYC with Penny and Sofia definitely lessened the blow when she left. I'll always love Callie as a character and would be thrilled if she came back, but that's a big if. And like you said, would there be anything for her to necessarily come back to, if the new love interest for Arizona is actually well received?

From what I've seen so far, and not sure if I'm right because I'm not on twitter or social media, people are rooting for this new girl. Or maybe they're just rooting for somebody to pair Arizona with lol. She's been alone long enough, and Callie had her turn with Penny, and now it's time for Arizona.

If Callie did return, it would seem very flat. Like, why now, or for what? Everyone else in the cast is pretty much in their own little SL's. The only purpose that would hold any value would be to win Arizona back. But if she's in this new relationship, and the fans are actually loving them, what then? Either way, a fandom will not be happy, unfortunately again lol.

Re: SaRa left the show, from the sounds of it out of nowhere, and didn't show a dedication to the co
Well it won't be the Calzona fandom then.....if someone thinks at some point they can switch to another couple and like them as much or more than Calzona, even when both Callie and Arizona are present on the show, how come they are dedicated Calzona fans! & as I said I was only talking about dedicated Calzona fandoms!

I don't blame anyone though, it's their choice who they wants to like or root for really.

In my opinion, and from how Shonda conceived and built Calzona:
there is no one better for Callie than Arizona, and there is no one better for Arizona than Callie.

Sara once said it in an interview: They compliment each other, they are like Yin and Yang.

This is storytelling. A fairytale. Make-believe. And as far as these characters go, as far as this fictional world of Grey's Anatomy goes, Calzona are IT (for me and for each other). For better and for worse, their love is and will forever be unmatched.

It's as simple as that for me. :)

You have no idea how much I agree with you :)

I definitely have traits of both. While part of me thinks that ultimately Callie and Arizona do belong together, I also feel that in certain relationships you can reach a point where you've shared too much history and too many obstacles - that love isn't always enough. And I think that Calzona may have reached that point.

I think the Penny/Callie relationship is completely laughable and I doubt Eliza/Arizona will ever be able to touch the depth that was Calzona (though time will tell), but I also believe that those relationships could be what Arizona and Callie need now - not a great love (they'll always be that for each other) but just a simple one.

... That having been said, I'm not going to lie to you and say I wouldn't be THRILLED if Callie and Arizona eventually reunited.
