Speculation on 10 x 24; Skip it because it Could Prove to be Spoilery
[Could be OH So Spoilery, read at your own peril!]
I just had a thought, several in fact...all the sides and the episode summary for 10x24 point to a terror attack. That coupled with the one picture of a worried looking Arizona (again, completely a subjective reading of the pic and could be a gross misinterpretation of the text) has me thinking, what if a conference or meet of some sort is being held in Seattle to showcase Derek and Callie's work, which is NIH funded, or something they collaborate on and that is where the attack happens? I mean, something like that would have press coverage and politicians, the President himself might come to something like that.
Plus, an oft used terror strategy is to double down by then targeting the hospitals closest to the epicentre of the violence (first wave of attacks) to completely bring down morale and scare people who were seeking help and also those equipped to give it.
Darn, my mind is a dark place.

Can't remember where I read it, but I believe it said that everyone's first reaction was that it was a terrorist attack but turned out to be an explosion caused by a car accident (or something like that - maybe a gas main?)

I do, however, like the creative, dark place your mind went. LOL. I could see that season finale turning into a cliff-hanger.

That's great...if not a tad anti-climactic after where my brain took me. But, it's good.
The episode summaries on various sites said that it is going to be an act of terrorism. I just figured 'well, Grey's hasn't done that disaster, so maybe?' It's like they randomly pick out stuff from a disaster dictionary. Seemed likely to me. But if it is a vehicular accident and Callie already has disastrous/devastating information handed down to her in 10.23 then I'll thank whoever is responsible for not bringing in a terror plot into the mix.
That is an awful lot of awfulness to handle.
And, as for cliffhangers, I think we are due a seasonal finale that spells out a resolution, you know. Like, let's have a somewhat happy finale with a entirely new set of problems next season. We haven't had one since season 7.

Agreed.

I'm thinking next year, Callie or Arizona will go into labor in the finale during an earthquake. They haven't had one of those yet on Gray's, have they? It's either that, or Arizona will be in a train wreck because she won't fly - giving her the trifecta of trains, planes and automobiles.
pasha2009pasha2009 on May 4th, 2014 05:34 pm (UTC)
She did fly though, remember? She is flying post crash.

Yes, labourquake is a distinct possibility, that or one of them gives birth in a circus on a bed of nails. A meteor strikes the hospital? Every toilet in America stops working when they really, really have to go? They have a Benjamin Button Baby who falls in love with one of the interns and it's really creepy to watch!

I mean, do you realise that Grey's is the exact opposite of Seinfeld, the show about nothing? Grey's is a show where everything happens, all at once, several times over!

it will be that Arizona decides that Alex is the man for her and they run away into the sun set, meanwhile Callie, Mer and Der missed their little house full so much that callie moved in again, which Der was really excited about till Mer and Callie made him babysit.....every time and so the curtain falls on Grey's. lol

Oh, yeah, no... I think my head just exploded with that one. LOL

I think Shonda is going in the direction of suspected terrorism/racist stereotypes and letting the answer be much more prosaic.

But that doesn't mean Callie isn't at the site of the initial blast. I would assume at least one of our doctors could be there.

I would actually like an episode like that, a red herring that brings out the misgivings everyone has about one another. But, I don't think a plot like that would necessarily demand one of the GSM doctors to be there, but it would increase the drama quotient. Or whatever it is, can put first responders In danger too...in which case April (probably not, she has a Jackson bun in her Kepner oven), Callie (who might insist on going after getting bad news, whatever that maybe...in April's stead or out of anger, denial, a streak of self destruction - which would be very unlike her...almost like Arizona getting on the plane after getting the bad news about Nick), Owen etc. would probably be the ones to go in, maybe one of the interns quit after getting a taste of whatever this will turnout to be? In any case, the interns haven't even all been initiated into GSM properly; they are all still wanting in the near death experience department...except for Heather, who was an over-achiever in that department.

Ah, it says "an act of possible terrorism". Seems you were right, probably something that seems like it but isn't the same thing.

Is it me or is this finale less hyped than others? Like nothing big is going to happen? Except for Sandra oh's departure, which will be the main focus.
But with S8+S9 finale JCap tweeted several times about the drama and the thrills and this year she is quiet. Makes me think that Calzona will not have some important storyline.

It's been mentioned that the "disaster" in the finale is simply the backdrop to Cristina's departure, and her leaving is really the focus. And if the sides are correct, then it was only a case of suspected terrorism which turned out to be only an accident or something not nefarious.

I think the finale is going to be similar to S7's finale, where the big event is external and doesn't affect Grey's characters. Except this time they do get an influx of patients ala the premiere. But otherwise, I don't really expect any cliffhangers for anyone.

While it is good for me that we don't need to wait an entire summer for a resolution of a cliffhanger, I must admit that finales as the s7 are quite boring.
I prefer something like s6. Tension but resolution in the end.

The build up to the season 9 Finale for C/A story line was riveting, we were all hoping and praying that the cheating wouldn't happen. This year (10.2) seems mellow in comparison, like season 8 was (in terms of things b/w C/A, I mean 10.2 has emotional kerfuffle, but they are on the same page)... But season 8 was the season that led us right up to the plane crash. So, m not going to be able to tell either way. This show has a way of punching you in the gut in the best and worst possible ways simultaneously.
I too am hoping for a season 6 type thing...hight octane, but with a resolution by the end of the finale.
